Recent examples of our work

 

  • UNFPA (2010-2011): ICSI have been commissioned to lead the research, compilation and production of The State of the World’s Midwifery Report (SoWMy) which will highlight efforts to strengthen midwifery in countries and regions and will be an important step toward advocacy and policy planning.

  • HPI (2011): Mobilising Access to Maternal Health Services in Zambia programme (“MAMaZ”). Engaged to assess the nature and extent of policy commitments to MNH and to assess how the governance backdrop affects and influences the processes of policy, plan and budget development and implementation.

  • MSH (2010): ‘Evaluation of Malawi’s Emergency Human Resources Programme’. Commissioned to provide Peer Review of the research findings on the independent evaluation of Malawi’s Emergency HRH programme (2005-10), including the rapid scale-up of nursing education.

  • Global Health Workforce Alliance (2009 - 2010): Providing advisory services to the Board and Secretariat to support the Board transition from its active role in day-to-day engagement to a policy-based governance role and facilitate a focus on vision, strategic issues, policy making and oversight.

  • DFID (2009 – 2010): Human Resources for Health Adviser. Support the Health Services Team in improving the international health system’s engagement and actions on Human Resources for Health (HRH). This includes the development of an internal Position Paper on HRH to ensure UK coherence in the pre- and post- MDG Summit discussions and programming, representation with national and global stakeholders and cross-Whitehall activities and implementation.

  • GHWA (2010) Providing direct support to the GHWA Board and facilitating the process of self-assessment adopted by the Board. The aim of this project is ‘to explore how partners and member understand the identity of GHWA, what they expect of it, and how GHWA can better leverage engagement and solutions through enhanced relations with partner and member organizations’. The study will provide the GHWA (‘the Alliance’) Board and Secretariat with qualitative insights and perspectives from partners, board members and Secretariat staff on key issues in relation to the Alliance’s identity, role and added value.

  • London International Development Centre (2010): DL4H Review of Global Health Training at a distance. A literature review and provision of specialist knowledge related to training and education for health systems. In particular, this includes gathering information on and providing insight into such areas as: the capacity enhancement of health systems, including those in low- and middle-income countries; approaches for the training of health workers; current pedagogies for effective teaching and learning of health workers; current programme design models for the training of health workers, including distance and blended learning approaches.

  • European Commission (2007 – 2010): Measurement and evaluation of a number of result-oriented projects and programmes in developing countries in terms of their quality and design, efficiency, effectiveness, impact and sustainability. Following each evaluation recommendations are proposed for project improvements.
